Internationally recognised design studio and specialist in interior spaces, MIM Design, are collaborating with local developers, Sammut Group to bring the architectural icon, Vue, to life. Renowned for creating unprecedented spaces, MIM Design have set a new benchmark for luxury, through state-of-the-art living, a soft, natural palette and sculptural forms that echo the coastal surroundings.
Taking you behind the scenes and into the design process, MIM Design are delving into the extensive thought process, ingenuity and conceptual thinking that has influenced these inspired spaces through an interview with our team.
SG: Are there particular people, concepts or ideas that have influenced your work?
MIM Design: Paying homage to the relaxed, urban coastal atmosphere of Cronulla, our approach to the interior design aimed to celebrate the locale. Further influenced by PBD Architecture’s sophisticated contours, the building’s interior encompasses gentle movement and tactile experiences that evoke a sense of ease and calm.
SG: What is the most unique or inspired aspect of your design?
MIM Design: With an interior plan that focuses on the surrounding aspect and striking coastal outlook, the level of detail and consideration throughout the space can be felt from the moment you step inside. Effortlessly functional and practical, with unpretentious beauty and style, Vue is quintessentially Australian.
SG: The natural environment is a key influence of VUE’s exterior design. How did your team create synergy between the exterior and interior?
MIM Design: The great success of this project is a result of the collaborative relationship of the design team selected and led by Sammut Group. The design language translates effortlessly from architecture to interiors, ensuring fluidity in form and function.
SG: Experiential Luxury is a core focus of Sammut Group’s development. How were you able to incorporate this into the design for VUE specifically?
MIM Design: This is especially evident on the Level 02 Amenity where you will find the pool deck, lounge zones, infrared sauna, plunge pools, & gym. This space is an ode to The Shire, ensuring that residents can extend their love of the outdoors, health & wellbeing.
